Certificates - Issue of Nationality Certificates for Older Children and Registration of Minor Children born after completion of the process

Procedures for issuing a Certificate of Nationality for older children not included in the process and registration of minor and / or children born after completing the process.

Notes:

  • The request to issue nationality certificates for older children and the registration of minor children born after the completion of the process can be made at any time and there is no deadline to apply.
  • The request can be made directly at the Ministry of Justice without going through the Consulate. For this option send the documentation listed below to:

List of documents that need to be sent

  • Original of the parents’ marriage certificate, accompanied by a sworn translation into French or German and with the translator’s signature recognized. It is not necessary to validate the recognition by apostille or legalization;
  • Original of the birth certificate of the older child applicant or minor child born after the completion of the process, accompanied by a sworn translation into French or German and with the translator’s signature recognized. It is not necessary to validate the recognition by apostille or legalization;
  • Notarized copy of a valid identification document (Passport expiring at least 06 months or ID with a date of issue of no more than 9 years) of the father or mother, the one who is Luxembourgish. This document does not require sworn translation;
  • Notarized copy of an identification document (Passport or ID) of the older child applicant or minor child born after completion of the process. This document does not require sworn translation;
  • Simple copy of Nationality Certificate or Déclaration de Recouvrement in the name of the father or mother, the one who is Luxembourgish, signed by the Judge of the Ministry of Justice;
  • If you have, a simple copy of a Luxembourg identification document (ID or Passport), of the father or mother, the one who has citizenship;
  • Proof of residence, consumption bill: gas, water, electricity, telephone, with a date of issue of no more than 90 days, in the name of the older child applicant or of the father or mother. If the older applicants do not have proof of address in their names, they must present a Déclaration de Résidence and attach the original or notarized copy of the bill with the declared address;
  • For the minor child in addition to proof of address in the name of one of the guardians, the Déclaration de habite signed by both parents and with recognized signatures must be presented.
